Lighthouse Boxer Rescue

Our New Blog...

Welcome to Lighthouse Boxer Rescue's First ever Blog!  This has been something we have been wanting to do for a long time, we are so excited to have a way to keep in touch with our supporters!  My name is Renee Puleo, I am the President of LBR and have been since the beginning.  I'm hoping to give you information you are looking for about boxers, their behavior and their health. Plus information about how Lighthouse works and many programs we offer.

Lighthouse Boxer Rescue was started in November 2001, by four dedicated women who knew the need for a responsible boxer rescue organization.  I was one of the four.  Twelve years later there are still two of our founding members on the board, with two new board members joining us.  In the last twelve years we've remained quite small, only taking in maybe 20 boxers a year.  We all agreed a long time ago we would only take in as many boxers as we had foster homes, trying never to board dogs just to take them in.  In 2013 we are hoping to expand our ever needed foster homes, and have just added to new members hoping to become trained foster homes to help us save more boxers.

Recently we just placed Stella, who had been with us since October!  We are sad to see her leave, but very happy that she has found her forever home, and wish her and her new family all the happiness in the world.  Dylan has also been with us for some time, he is still looking for his forever home, we know it's out there somewhere, we just haven't found it for him yet.  Dylan & Stella have been our only fosters for awhile, due to the lack of foster homes, however, things are changing, as they do, and we will be adding a few new boxers that will be in search of their homes! Stay tuned.

I believe summer is coming, you really can't tell by the weather here in Cleveland, but it's booked to come.  Summer is our busy season, as we commit to many events over the summer months.  We already have quite a few on our books.  Here are some we are planning on being at this summer:

June 1st:  Paws 4 A Cause

If you have any questions or comments please post them to the blog, I'd be happy to help with whatever I can, and look forward to talking with you all!
