Think you do not have a skill that we need? Think again! Because Lighthouse Boxer Rescue is run entirely by volunteers, there is always a need for help in many capacities.

Currently, we are in need of volunteers that will work events, process applications and/or be a foster home to a displaced Boxer.

Working Events: Summer is our busiest time of year. We have multiple events per month that need to be staffed by volunteers. These events typically are all day events (9am - 5pm) and sometimes are 2 days in a row (Saturday and Sunday). At these events we have a sales table where we sell T-shirts, dog items, etc. and we offer education to the public regarding responsible pet care, the importance of spay/neutering and yearly vaccines and any information about the Boxer breed.

Processing applications: this consists of performing veterinary and personal reference checks, conducting a phone interview and possibly a home visit with the applicant. Once these actions are completed a full report is provided to our Application Committee for approval/denial. If the applicant is approved, you work with your applicant to find them the foster best suited for their lifestyle.

A foster home is responsible for preparing their assigned foster dog for their new life and their forever home. This includes training basic obedience commands in a positive reinforcement technique only. All medical bills are paid for by the rescue group but food, toys and love are provided by the foster home at their own expense.
